Tables of contents are especially accessible and versatile on WestlawNext.
Deliver documents right from the TOC: In many situations on WestlawNext, you can e-mail, print, or download documents, send to Amazon Kindle, or export them to West Case Notebook directly from a table of contents (TOC). Simply click headings in the TOC until you reach an "end page," i.e., a portion of the TOC composed entirely of individual documents rather than chapters or other parts of the publication. A delivery icon is displayed.
To deliver all documents on the page, click the delivery icon, or click the arrow next to the delivery icon and choose a delivery method from the menu. To deliver specific documents, click Specify content to search and use the check boxes to specify which documents you want to deliver; then click the arrow next to the delivery icon, or click the arrow next to the delivery icon and choose a delivery method from the menu.
Run a focused search for statutes or regulations: The TOC is also a great tool for searching a statutory or regulatory code by topic. For example, if you need statutes on Social Security, there's no need to search the entire United States Code Annotated (USCA) or even the entire title 42 (The Public Health and Welfare); you can use the TOC to narrow your search to chapter 7 (Social Security).
After accessing the TOC for the United States Code Annotated, select Specify content to search and select the check boxes next to Chapter 7Social Security. Type your search in the tabbed text box at the top of the page and click Search. (In the alternative, click Chapter 7Social Security. Then select Search all content. Type your search in the tabbed text box at the top of the page, and click Search.)
Save some or all of a table of contents as a WestlawNext favorite: Suppose you know you will regularly consult title 42, chapter 7 of the USCA (Social Security). Display the table of contents for chapter 7 by clicking Statutes and Court Rules on the All Content tab, and then clicking the appropriate links on the following pages. At the Chapter 7Social Security page, click Add to Favorites. A link to chapter 7 is now displayed in the Favorites section of the WestlawNext home page.
