I think the conversations we are having with clients are largely regarding how we can align our service model with the clients' perception of value. In some cases that involves modifications to the traditional time-based charge fee. In other cases we are discussing other kinds of alternative billing arrangements.

We certainly believe that WestlawNext is one of the technologies that helps us bring efficiencies to the client and therefore offer alternative arrangements that are different from the traditional billing methods.
The product has been well received by the lawyers in our litigation group since we've been using it. In our business, it is important to not only get the answer quickly, but have confidence that the answer you're giving the client is right. We believe WestlawNext gives us that confidence. I don't think the same is the case with free research.
I think it's an important innovation in the world of legal research because increasingly the volume of data that our clients are struggling to deal with is expanding exponentially, and a challenge for all of us is to manage that information in a way that we can sort it, organize it, and extract what we need quickly.
